(He and his crew ate 24 of their dogs to survive.) He returned as a hero. The british Robert Falcon Scott (below) reached the pole a month later. “He wanted to find the south pole, but the only thing he found was a norwegian flag.” He and his crew died on the way home. The south pole station is named Amundsen-Scott to honor both men.
