HISTORY TIME
I was watching a documentary about the 2 expeditions to reach the south pole in 1911.
The norwegian Roald Amundsen (above) was finally the first who arrived. (He and his crew ate 24 of their dogs to survive.) He returned as a hero.
The british Robert Falcon Scott (below) reached the pole a month later. “He wanted to find the south pole, but the only thing he found was a norwegian flag.” He and his crew died on the way home.
The south pole station is named Amundsen-Scott to honor both men.
